Restoration Services, Inc. (RSI) participated in the Jasper Elementary School Open House on August 14 where students received school supplies and other items.
It marked the fourth consecutive year RSI set up a booth and joined businesses from throughout Pike County and the area to assist the elementary students. RSI Senior Public Affairs Manager Rick Greene and Senior Administrative Assistant Brooke Greene handed out packets full of supplies.
“It just makes me smile when I see a kid’s eyes light up when they find their favorite color of something they want,” Brooke Greene said. “Early education is a critical piece of our community development and I’m proud that RSI is a contributor to that effort.”
The packets were filled with scissors, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, glue and the like. A message from RSI wishing the students good luck during the school year was also included.
“This is a great community event where students get the things they need to start the school year off right and it saves the parents a few bucks, too,” Rick Greene said. “RSI has always been a good community partner and this is one of the events where our impact is felt.”
About 500 students made their way through the booths with about 30 local businesses taking part.
RSI is involved in a variety of community-based efforts, including support of the Waverly YMCA, beautification efforts at Walnut Street Park, and the SamJam Bluegrass Festival.
“Being involved in community projects is something RSI takes very seriously and we think our involvement is making a difference in people’s lives,” said Greg Wilkett, RSI’s Program Director at the Portsmouth site. “We would also like to thank the administration, teachers and staff at Jasper Elementary for organizing an outstanding event.”
