OAK RIDGE, June 13, 2013 - Restoration Services Inc. and the Employee Outreach Committee have joined efforts to offer eight (8) $1,000 college scholarships to help students achieve their greatest potential through higher education. Six (6) scholarships were awarded to graduating high school students who will be attending college in the upcoming fall 2013 semester. The remaining two (2) scholarships were awarded to children of RSI employees who are upcoming sophomores, juniors, or seniors currently enrolled in an accredited college for the 2013 fall semester. Scholarship recipients were selected from submitted applications that included academic accomplishments, community involvement/leadership roles, and an essay on current environmental threats.
Scholarship recipients entering college are Bethany Allen, graduating from Anderson County High School, will be attending Roane State; Joseph "Grant" Barbour, graduating from Oak Ridge High School, will be attending the University of Tennessee; Jalen Carter, graduating from Hardin Valley Academy, will be attending Averett University; Stephanie Hanahan, graduating from Valley View High School in Germantown, OH, will be attending the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga; Jedidiah Long, graduating from Lenoir City High School, will be attending the University of Tennessee; Tyler Moore, graduating from Zane Trace High School in Chillicothe, OH will be attending Miami University. Continuing college students receiving scholarships are Kaitlyn Byrd, currently attending Roane State, will be attending the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga in the fall and Christiana Goode, currently attending and continuing at the University of Tennessee.
