Sr Hydrogeologist/Project Manager

Job Description


RSI is actively seeking a talented and experienced Senior Level Hydrogeologist / Project Manager.  This individual will be expected to plan, execute, and manage tasks within their area of expertise.  Knowledge equivalent to that obtained with a Master's degree in a field directly related to the work performed, with a minimum of fifteen years of experience, and while serving as a technical lead, task manager, group manager, or equivalent is required

Subject Matter Expert responsible for supporting high-profile projects in a complex hydrogeological environment, interpretation of contaminant transport and media monitoring within geological strata, and providing support to groundwater project strategy.  Supports ORR Groundwater Program including tasks such as the prioritization and planning, field implementation, data analysis and reporting, conceptual site model development, and document production. Provides support to or interfaces directly with Regulatory and Department of Energy agencies. Provides hydrogeological expertise and guidance to the core Water Resources Restoration Program while utilizing both project management and technical skills.

Duties will include:  further refinement and implementation of an ORR Groundwater Strategy; planning and participation in Data Quality Objectives meetings, preparation and review of Sampling and Analysis plans; preparing and presenting written documentation and presentation materials for Program and project information; performing detailed review of field documentation and data for accuracy; reviewing and evaluating sampling and analysis results; providing recommendations for follow-up actions and investigations; evaluating groundwater use restrictions; interfacing with sampling and analytical laboratory personnel and subcontractors including well drillers.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in hydrogeological characterization on CERCLA sites.
  • Minimum of a Master of Science degree in geology or closely related field.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Oak Ridge Reservation geology, groundwater, surface water, and site history highly preferred. 
  • Experience working with Regulatory agencies on a government site is required.
  • Experience and understanding of the Data Quality Objectives process and the development and implementation of Sampling and Analysis Plans.
  • Experience with environmental regulatory requirements including CERCLA regulations and the CERCLA decision-making process.
  • Experience and understanding of groundwater characterization and remediation; groundwater well installation, development, and monitoring; development of conceptual site models; and groundwater fate and transport modeling.
