Field Characterization Specialists
The successful candidates will have:
• Experience in Environmental & facility characterization

• a minimum of 5+ yrs related exp;
• BS degree in a related field is required;
• Expert in Primavera, and the use of project planning, scheduling, and budgeting tools;

Geotechnical Engineer
This position will be part of a multi-disciplinary team working on CERCLA documents for DOE sites and facilities. Review existing geotechnical data and design field investigations and complete geotechnical analyses for a potential waste disposal cell at a DOE facility. Position will require making recommendations for laboratory testing and assisting in the preparation of reports, drawings, and specifications for a potential waste disposal cell. M.S. degree in engineering or geology and 15+ years of directly applicable experience are preferred.
Required Skills:
- B.S Degree and PE in environmental engineering or applicable engineering discipline
- Minimum of 10 years experience in landfill design or evaluation
- Must have experience in designing landfills for disposal of hazardous and/or low-level radioactive waste.
- Must have demonstrated understanding of geotechnical parameters required for landfill siting and design.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance

Environmental Safety & Health (ES&H) Officer – Oak Ridge, TN.
Job responsibilities for this position include the demonstrated ability to oversee field operations, as well as development of corporate and task-specific programs, plans, and procedures. Minimum requirements for this position include:
- B.S/B.A in ES&H discipline or related technical degree
- 8 years ES&H experience with at least 5 years on DOE sites
- Detailed understanding of OSHA, DOE, ANSI, NIOSH, and TOSHA requirements and recommendations
- Experience with worker case management and reporting requirements
- In-field safety management experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to wear a respirator and work in confined space
- OSHA 40 hour and 8 hour supervisory & RadWorker II training

Sr. Environmental Engineer
Position Description:
This position will support a project team of engineers and scientists in performing a CERCLA engineering/feasibility study of metals recovery, waste processing, treatment, and storage for disposal or the potential reuse of these materials within DOE or nuclear industry as an alternative. The engineering study will support D&D waste identification and volume determination and data base tracking. The engineering study will evaluate thermal treatment technologies, metals acceptance criteria and preparation requirements, technical specifications to support a preliminary design and cost estimate for metal preparation, melting, and storage facilities, and disposition alternatives for processed D&D metals. The engineering study will evaluate metals characterization requirements, metals harvesting requirements, and decontamination.
The Sr. Environmental/Civil Engineer or Physical Scientist will be based at RSI’s offices in Oak Ridge, TN. This position requires periodic travel (<25%) to Waverly, Ohio or Lexington, Kentucky for meetings with DOE and/or work at the Portsmouth Site.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science or engineering from an accredited institution and 10-15 years of environmental experience is required.
- Requires a demonstrated working knowledge of DOE uranium processing facilities and/or experience with nuclear facility D&D.
- Experience performing engineering and/or feasibility studies under CERCLA RI/FS environmental regulations, preferably at DOE sites, is strongly desired.
- Experience in metal recovery and processing is highly desirable.
- A professional registration and DOE clearance is desirable.

TECHNICAL WRITER/EDITOR
Primary Function:
This technical writer/editor position is located in Portsmouth, Ohio. The main job responsibilities involve writing and editing technical materials, such as procedures, reports, assessments, manuals, news releases, and/or regulatory documents. Written or edited documents and materials may be for internal or external dissemination. Assignments often involve writing or editing for electronic media, and may include highly visible communications projects. This position requires skill to analyze and present gathered information and a working knowledge of how media operate. The technical writer/editor also assists with Power Point presentations and other projects that require working in group environments.
Duties:
- Develops, writes, and edits technical documents, procedures, manuals, reports, presentations, proposals, and other technical publications.
- Recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, or content.
- Tracks the status of document creation and editing.
- Organizes material and completes writing assignment according to established standards and procedures.
- Formats files according to set standards.
- Creates and inserts digital charts, photos, drawings, and diagrams to represent complex concepts in the material.
- Assists in laying out material for publication.
- Interviews subject matter experts for understanding needed to write and edit required documents.
- Reads journals, reports, and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods.
- Reviews published materials.
- Recommends methods of publication and reproduction.
- Arranges for production and distribution of materials.
- Creates, links, edits, and formats documents in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Establishes, systematizes and maintains libraries for documents, photos, and graphics.
- Understands the functionality of a software product, and translate that knowledge into printed and on-line materials.
Educational Requirements:
Must have, at a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in English or a related field from an accredited school.
Additional Requirements:
- Must possess at least five years of technical writing experience.
- Must possess proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent communication skills.
